Dale Posts: 2132 Registered: Nov 2002	posted 05-25-2003 12:17 PM The terms refer to the practice of placing a small piece of sterling into the parts of silverplate flatware. This is done at what are called the wear points: where the item will rest on the table. These terms were patented, or copyrighted, by International Silver's Holmes and Edwards. Sometime in the late 1960's, 'sterling inlaid' was replaced by 'deepsilver'. Both refer to the same practice. IP: Logged
