Maybe I don't write ok the first time.

I look for clear and concise description of which I think it is called Queen Anne Style (England, 1700-1720). Maybe it is called another name in this period. Typical is plain, geometric form with sparse decoration. Popular form is also domed lids and handle of 90 degrees. Elements decorative include cut-card, lambrechini, gadroon, and lambrecchini(English word?).

If may add other things that are typical it would be very pleasing to me!!
I will like your responses.

Thank you!
Francesca

Hello Francesca,

Welcome to the forums, and sorry for the delay in responding.

I think you are basically correct. Queen Anne period English silver is characterized by:

1.) Simple, elegant shapes. These can be simple urn and vase forms, rectangles, or multi-sided shapes, very geometrical overall.

2.) Large areas of unadorned metal. Surface decoration is usually limited to engraved family crests

3.) Edges may be decorated with simple bands of decoration, including cut-card work and gadrooning.

4.) Heavy gauge (very thick) silver. Queen Anne pieces tend to be very heavy for their size.

I will see if I can add some more information tomorrow!

I believe lambrecchini refers to the helmet design that is portrayed on the top of the shield of some coats of arms - normally the arms that have been awarded to knights as opposed to the crown that sit on top of a coat of arms for royalty or miter that would be on top of a coat of arms of a bishop, etc.

Thank you very much to every one who reply to me. This is a site very full of information that help and interests to me.

I think I found how he says "lambrecchini" in English. Should be lambrequin. Lambrequin definition is "a deeply scalloped fringe-like ornament common in late 17th century French decorative arts introduced to England by Daniel Marot."

Thank you again to every one!!!!

Kind Regards,
Francesca
