This item is 6.5" long fully extended, is marked "Made in England Sterling", but curiously no makers mark or hallmarks. One end has what looks like a small cork screw but certainly couldn't be used to open a wine bottle. 6 sided and covered with engine turning.

I'm guessing that it's alcohol related.

June and I have several. We know what they are. I love to see what people will guess so I will be remain silent for now.

Sometimes the guesses are better than the actual answer.

My money is on a champagne swizzle stick to remove the bubbles from champagne so that they don't tickle your nose. Very roaring 20's. I guess the corkscrew end is supposed to suggest how to turn or swizzle the stick.

I just bought one at a local fair here in Tucson. The seller had no idea what it was and I had not yet extended the slide to expose the prongs. My wife found it disturbing to think that someone would want to pop the bubbles in Champagne.

kayvee is correct, though we have to agree with FredZ's wife: Why?

Just a fad at the time, like premium coffees today. Why not use it to foam up your latte or cappucino??

The corkscrew-like appendage could be another bar tool, such as an olive pick. As vathek pointed out, it is not an actual corkscrew.
