I know you intend this to be funny and it is. Unfortunately, there are listings not too far removed from this. For those listing, I wonder if the seller is sincere in their representations or are they trolling for dopes that will make a genuine purchase. Or are they just doing the listing because they also think it is funny? IP: Logged |

Richard, I think you forgot to mention that Genghis's toothbrush is by Faberge. IP: Logged |

Hi all, Can't help loving it. and yes, I have bid on items with only one photo and it was this bad. Only thing is that the description was 2 lines and said something on the order of "8 forks, plated, from local estate". I could tell there were 8 fiddle handled forks, and they were made of metal... that is all. To the sellers credit, they had listed over 300 items, each as well described as the forks. No sizes, and no reply to my questions. It happens. I did the same thing with some damaged sterling silver brushes a long time ago. Very little response.. Most of the folks on Ebay seem to underuse the "amusement" gene. Later. Marc IP: Logged |

This exact item just came up again for the ninth time on that auction site. Does anyone know if they are making repros? IP: Logged |

I am wondering when some resourceful comedien will start using that west coast auction site as a primary source for new material. It would probably also make for a great newspaper cartoon strip. IP: Logged |

Jay Leno already does. He has a segment called "sold or not sold?" in which he asks the audience to guess whether an absurd e-bay item was sold or not sold. The only thing more absurd than items for sale is those willing to spend money on them. As P.T. Barnum once said, "No one ever went broke underestimating the taste of the American public." Remember the pet rock craze of the 1970s?! Tom IP: Logged |

Hello tmockait! Just to let you know the Pet rock is still selling very well! No feeding, requires little space, travels well. I still have mine, maybe I should have it silver or gold plated like the kids baby shoes. Now that would be a hoot! Jersey IP: Logged |

tmockait, "No one ever went broke underestimating the taste of the American public." Its only taken me three years to realize that this is an H.L. Mencken quote. P.T. Barnum is supposed to have said, "There's a suckers born every minute." They are similar sentiments. IP: Logged |
