I agree; I've only seen a very few with this sort of mechanism, but all of them have been European -- and most have been plated rather than solid. I think I remember one that was solid, and French, but not absolutely sure of that memory as it was many years ago. IP: Logged |

This is the fifth one of these that I have seen, including two by Gorham. Below are photos of a rather unusual example by Wm. Gale & Son which features an engraved medallion. It is marked 925 Sterling and it has the Gale date mark for 1862.
