Greetings everyone, I am new and excited to learn about Silver. I want to be perfectly upfront about my purpose here I believe being honest is the best policy. I am helping raise money for several charities i.e. The Humane Society and a few Veterans organizations. In doing this we auction donated items. I know for a fact that I have sold some silver for pennies on the dollar because I lacked the knowledge of what I had. So I want to learn! The Humane Society just got a 8 pieces of silver donated to them of which 6 are very very old. These I have promised myself won't go for $10 to $20 this time. The facility is raising money for a new building and they need every penny they can get. So that's what I am doing, I hope nobody is offended by my reasons for being here (with the charity fundraising and all) but I wanted to post my intentions first and see what you all thought. Let me know.... Daemien IP: Logged |

Hi Bidzooka, I notice that no one has replied to you as yet. Here are my 2 cents worth as coming from an ordinary member who is a regular reader but rather infrequent poster. This is a site for silver hobbyists and collectors and we try to diligently discourage those whose interest is commercial. We appreciate your honesty in being up front about your motives but our clear and longstanding effort to differentiate between interests motivated by avocation and vocation is something that I believe many of us besides myself are loath to abandon. The fact that you handle some items for non-profit organizations is commendable but as it is part of a commercial operation it doesn't change the basic incompatibility between your orientation and that of the people sought as members of this site. I hope that you can understand a desire to retain this site as it is. Nothing prevents you from searching previous post for help in identifying objects. That is the approach that is being recommended to new collector members as well. Arg IP: Logged |

Bidzooka, Arg(um)entum’s reply echos my thoughts and as well as the emails I have received about your posts. Your effort to help non-profit organizations is commendable. Arg(um)entum has said it very well. I do encourage you to use the search function. Scott IP: Logged |
