In the last year there has been a major shift in the PCs/Operating Systems/browsers/screen resolutions that SSF members and visitors use. Hardly anyone is still using WebTV. Most (not all) members and visitors are now using 600x800 resolution or higher. 83+% use Windows and 9+% use Mac. The big surprise is that Internet Explorer use is behind Mozilla as 56.5+% use Netscape/Mozilla/Firefox and 36.9+% Internet Explorer. It is unclear how many use dial up but some spot checking reveals that some members and visitors still use dial up. Because there are dial up members/visitors and since 99.9% of all displays will only display high resolution images at 72 pixels, we will keep the 72 dpi image Guideline request. This will ensure that the image downloads at the maximum line speed. As it regards image width we are relaxing the maximum image width from 490 pixels at 72 dpi to 640 pixels at 72 dpi. This is not a request for you to post larger images. We still feel the original image size of 490 pixels at 72 dpi is more than adequate in the majority of posts. The hope is that the new maximum size will make it easier for people who have cameras that automatically produce images of 640 pixels wide at 72 dpi. If you are able to resize your images without it affecting the quality of your post please do. Resizing to 490 pixel width will make your post more readable for the majority of members and visitors.
