[01-2715] Did anyone get anything silvery and shiny for a holiday gift? IP: Logged |

I received a nice mid 20th century .830 Icelandic Viking ship souvenir caddy spoon, made by Kjartan Ásmundsson. Part of my gift to Mom was a pretty little late 19th-early 20th century sterling sweetheart salt spoon, heart shaped bowl, twisted wire stem with love-knot. ~Cheryl

I guess I forgot to list mine! My sister gave me a beautiful sugar and creamer set by Duhme & Co, with all over floral design and twist handles. She ran out of silver polish, so they need a bit of cleaning before photographing! I also received a lovely earring and bracelet set from my husband made by Anne D. Kearney; she is a jeweler in Cambridge, NY who used to be a designer for Ed Levin. I recently set up a booth in a shop in Cambridge, so I am hoping to meet her sometime soon-really lovely work. Doc I have found that, depending upon degree of tarnishing, silver can be better photographed leaving the tarnish intact. I can bring out the design highlights by accenting the highs and lows. O'course this could be that I like a little bit of tarnish as I myself am a bit tarnished from all those years of digging through antique shops. I was lucky enough to receive three bread plates in Chantilly, which now brings my total to 7 (hint to Santa for next year, I need 5 more). LOL Robert IP: Logged |

I didn't receive any silver, but I did give some. This year, like last year, I gave my co-workers their choice of spoons out of the collection of odd ones that I've accumulated over the years. They really seem to enjoy selecting them, even the young ones. This year the selection was mostly plainer patterns, as last year they mostly chose the ornate ones. The only problem is, now I'm out of odd spoons. IP: Logged |

My wife received a nice pair of large serving spoons to add to her collection of the Old Newbury pattern. One plain and one pierced. For a very recent order for a customer, we pierced his spoons with his last initial, at his request. I wish I had thought to do that for my wife, but it never occurred to me to use that as the piercing. It looks great. middletom IP: Logged |
