[01-2737] We wait with anticipation to see if Calvin Borel will be a three for three winning jockey when he rides Mine that Bird again today at the Belmont Stakes. In honor of the glorious history of horse racing and the silver trophies that accompany it, we share this equestrian trophy advertised by International Silver back in 1902.

Well, unfortunately, Calvin came in third with Mine that Bird. First place for this year's Belmont Stakes goes to Summer Bird. We did enjoy seeing the Belmont trophy once again. IP: Logged |

Always a pleasure to see the Tiffany Belmont Cup, have always preferred its lush roundness to the sprawling Woodlawn Vase. Interesting Triple Crown races this year, suspect the stud fees for Birdstone, sire of both the "Birds", will go up considerably - good to be winner, even better to throw them. Can never watch the Belmont without memories of watching my equine heartthrob Secretariat's amazing finish - what a horse! ~Cheryl IP: Logged |

I also believe that smaller trophies with figures of horses based on the Belmont cup figures, are made by NJ Silversmith Ubaldo Vitali. IP: Logged |
