Some time back I had mentioned that our old tools at ONC were rusting in the past seven or so years as never before. I eventually found from an engineer acquaintance that use of Mystery Oil on the tools would take care of the rusting problem, and that has worked well for us. In December, we were moved to the basement of the building we are in (to keep us from bothering others) and our concern at the time was that the basement would be damp and cause further deterioration of our tools. Our surprise is that the basement has turned out to be very dry and so far there has been no sign of any rust trying to get at the tools. That is a great thing, for we were having to constantly clean and oil the tools before, but no more. middletom IP: Logged |

I am very glad to hear the tools are no longer rusting. I realize the following request is a lot of work and will understand if it is too much to ask. Seeing photos of individual tools, dies, the shop, etc. would be of interest to me and I expect others. Any chance you and our other smiths members might post images and simple description/explanations? IP: Logged |

Scott, I would be more than happy to take photos and post them. However, the last time I tried to post photos, I couldn't get it to work and I'm a bit gun shy about trying again. If I can't get good results, might I send photo prints to you and have you post them? Geoff IP: Logged |
