I'm coming to all of you for some help. At ONC we have a few patterns, such as Windsor Shell, Cambridge and Grenada on which we offer gold plating on the tip. The company we have used for our plating has gone out of business and we've not been able to find another. Most don't want to do small quantities and others do only industrial plating and it is not certified for food use. Has anyone in this readership knowledge of a plating company that might do small quantities of plating that meet requirements for food usage? We would appreciate any help you can give us in this matter. I know you have a very wide field of knowledge and contacts, so I'm hopeful that something will come of my request. Happy Spring to you all. middletom IP: Logged |

Usually any jeweler that does repairs can plate small items. Gold plating does not require cyanide solutions any longer. You might check locally for a jewelery repair shop. Or get a kit from a supplier and do it yourself. It's not really that difficult. IP: Logged |

Thanks Dale. As a matter of fact, after I wrote that request, our office manager started to look into plating apparatus in the Geswein catalogue. Today, Jeffrey Herman called and gave us the name of a firm which may be able to help out with the plating situation. Jeff, I'd like to thank you for comming up with the suggestion of a plater for us. That should be a life saver. I am making two tongs now for a customer in the Windsor Shell pattern and she wants them with the gold plated shell, so it appears we'll be able to satisfy her wants. middletom IP: Logged |
