Try holding the top under the hot water tap. It should expand before the body does and come loose, but do not wait until the heat is conducted to the body, or it will expand, too. If that happens, then hold the body under cold water, and it should contract before the top does. This assuming the shaker is all silver - if the body is glass you risk cracking the glass if the temperature extermes are too great.
