    Happy Festivus
    "For the Rest of Us"

Although a aluminum pole is what is used by festees; I think silverphile festees should use a silverplate Festivus pole. Anyone ever seen one? wink

More on Festivus:

  • The story of Festivus featured in "The Strike" episode of Seinfeld
  • Short History of Festivus

    History of Festivus

For thousands of years Festivus has provided a temporary relief from the stresses of everyday life.

While it first came to the attention of most of America by way of the December 18, 1997 episode of Seinfeld, the celebration of a holiday called Festivus is part of human history throughout the ages, most notably in ancient Rome, nineteenth-century California, and upstate New York in the 1960s.

By December 2004, when Allen Salkin's article about Festivus as a real holiday appeared in the New York Times, thousands of people around the world were celebrating Festivus with parties, grievance-airing, pole-erecting, beer-brewing and the invention of new Festivus rituals.

  • Aluminum Festivus Poles can be order here (no kidding).

Although it took a public beating last year, I prefer "Happy Holidays," as that covers all of the holidays of the season. Those who profess only Christmas are missing out on what is for many around the world celebrated as the more prominent Christian holiday of the season, Three Kings Day (the twelfth day of Christmas, or Epiphany). Kwanzaa, Hanukkah, Solstice, Christmas, Epiphany, Yule, Shab-e Yaldaa, Saturnalia, Sankranti, Rohatsu, New Years, Festivus -- holidays for everyone.

Whatever one's faith, then, Happy Holidays to all!

My 2 cents.
Peace on earth to all during this wonderous time, (and in the future)!
