My “Silver Magazine” came today and I noticed with sadness the passing of Marie-Louise Fredyma. For years she had the first advertisement in “The Attic” section of “The Magazine Antiques” and that was normally the first section my wife and I turned to when that magazine came. It was always a joy to talk with her, ask about her wares and often made a purchase. She was appreciated by all for her knowledge and her willingness to share it. I particularly remember one purchase from her. My wife was still in bed recuperating from knee surgery and when the Antiques Magazine came she immediately asked for it. I had planned to run an errand, but just as I was leaving she cried out don’t leave. Marie- Louise had an advertisement for ten Conning tea knives in the fiddle thread pattern. I told my wife that I would call after I came home, but she insisted that I call immediately and would not let me go until I had placed the call. Luckily I did and Marie-Louise sold me the knives. I talked to her later and we laughed about all the others calls she received even to the point where one person wanted to FedEx their check to beat my check. IP: Logged |
