[01-2854 31-0001] Vathek, You had started a thread about some ONC platters. I am very curious about them, for as far as I am aware, we never made any platters. I usually think of platters as being oval or rectangular in shape, but with the exception of a colonial reproduction oval platter we did in pewter during the bicentennial period, we've not made any but round trays, some of which were large enough to be called platters, I suppose. Can you give me more information about their dimensions and design? I know Scott closed the other thread for a private correspondence, but I don't think this question treads on the rules. middletom IP: Logged |

Middletom, they were round but fairly large, maybe 16-18" or so. They were signed ONC sterling with a 3 digit number I don't remember. I only have this pic left. The good news is that someone who wanted them for themselves and not for scrap bought them. IP: Logged |

Vathek' That is quite the piece and I'm pleased that they were bought by someone who wanted them. I have only vague recollections of trays or platters like that. The style is akin to a service plate but much larger. The tray that I had in mind when I asked you about the pieces was a tray we called the Gadroon tray. It was sixteen inches across with a lip of about one half inch and a gadroon wire applied to that lip.We may still have the chuck on which those platters were spun, but they do go back a bit in time. middletom IP: Logged |

Just a guess but they may date from the late fifties or early sixties. I had heard that someone that was interested in them was trying to sell some other silver they owned so they could purchase them but I don't know if that's who ultimately got them. IP: Logged |
