Iris (Mrs. Seymour) Schwartz died the other day. She and her husband were a fixture in the silver collecting world and had built up a serious collection of American silver during the 1980s and 90s. They lived in NJ and I knew them well--often going to auctions in NY with them. Their taste was eclectic, ranging from early colonial to contemporary--they commissioned two major pieces from Ubaldo Vitali--both of which will be in the upcoming exhibition at the Renwick in Washington, MAKING HISTORY, that opens March 24. It's sobering to think that I've been around long enough to see the passing of a great generation of collectors. I'll miss Iris. IP: Logged |

Hello Mr. Grant So sorry to hear about the loss of your friend. Take comfort in the fact that you have many memories & examples of her collection in your museum that will be appreciated by many. Jersey IP: Logged |
