This might be a little off topic but I thought it might be of some interest. I recently ran across this stamp:

which was issued in 2007 as part of the American Design series. According to the USPS website: "The sixth stamp in the American Design series - the 3-cent Silver Coffeepot definitive - features an artist's simplified rendering of a silver coffeepot, circa 1786, belonging to the Philadelphia Museum of Art. The coffeepot was made by prominent Philadelphia silversmiths Joseph Richardson, Jr. (1752-1831) and Nathaniel Richardson (1754-1827)".

This led me to see if there were other and I found these:

From Russia:

and from South Africa:

My question/thought is: why aren't there more stamps to commemorate silver and silversmiths? Given the relevance and impact that silver has made on history, it would seem that this would be an area that is long overdue for a little recognition.

I don't know but its a good thought. I suppose we could lobby the USPO.

I also expect it might be easier to do one ourselves and then to process it via one of those "make your own postage stamps" sites.

There is a Paul Revere stamp:

And a few Navajo Jewelry Stamps:
