[01-3031] Here's a picture of me in my backyard. Well, that's not exactly true. It's actually the Getty Villa in Malibu, California a little gem of a museum housing one of the worlds great collections of antiquities. It was built by John Paul Getty (who never set foot in the place) and it was modeled after a first century Roman country house. The house and the gardens are a sensory delight. Parking is $15, but admission is free. So, if you're ever in Southern California pile all your friends and relatives into a car and head on over. It's a real treat and I highly recommend it. Included in Getty's collection are some wonderful examples of ancient silver some of which I've posted below. IP: Logged |
