My wife collects strawberry pincushions and found another one with a silver cap this weekend to add to her collection. Most of the strawberries have a sewn top, but occasionally a silver top pops up on the berry. I do not know if these were sold as is or if individuals made their own pincushion.

They do make an interesting display in a small basket.

How sweet - the basket of strawberries must look quite charming, I especially like the tiny one with the silver calyx. Can still remember my Mom showing me how to run the needles through the strawberry to sharpen them when she was first teaching me to sew; if I remember correctly from when I collected sewing accessories, the form dates back to the early 19th century. They were a common needlework project for ladies, but also commercially made. As a kid, made one for Mom out of a loud Pucci-type print, along with a matching tomato pincushion, used the emery from her old worn strawberry - proud of it at the time and, bless her heart, she kept it until it started leaking too.

Chery, thanks for the great catalog pictures. The Daniel Low company must have been the leading company for small items in their time.
