[26-2317] Greetings one and all. I am new here, please bear with me. I am in Central New York State. As a boy, I picked up an item at a church sale. It is a water trough with a man's hat, a bottle and a jacket laying underneath the trough. There is an obvious piece of the sculpture missing from one end of the trough, perhaps a man or figure of some sort. the curious part is that it is stamped on the underside as follows:
JAS. W. TUFTS BOSTON - MASS This bears no similarity to the James W. Tufts usual stamps that all other pieces seem to have, the "T" in the center of two low angled triangles. I will attempt to take a picture of the item, but please do not hold your breath. Despite my comparative young age of 52, I have allowed the computer age to largely pass me by! The piece would appear to be made of bronze, and if there is any silver on it I would be surprised. Why, then, am I in this, a silver forum, you ask? Well, it seemed likely that you all would be familiar with Tufts' work and could perhaps send me off in the right direction. Thank you for your time and attention. I hope someone might have an idea or two. IP: Logged |
