The copyright warning popup By now some of you may have noticed that when you right click the mouse you get a copyright warning before the usual right click menu choices:
Our copyright is being ignored. Our images and content are being reused (stolen) all over the Internet without our permission. We don’t like this and want it to stop. (For example: Pinterest We also don’t have the financial resources to pursue each case or site violating our copyright. We expect the issue will eventually be prosecuted as a class action. When (if) a class action is ever launched we will want to consider joining the action. To ensure there isn’t a question about our wanting to enforce our copyright we have turned on the right click warning. There are all sorts of tools/ways to minimize the right click warning. So we are asked why bother? The answer is all of the above. Members who email us at info@SMPub.com from their SSF registered email address with the subject copyright warning popup will be sent a recommended link to the Fire Fox tool we use to minimize the slight inconvenience of the popup warning. Scott, have you considered granting copiers of materials of this Forum a copyright license in the form of one of those set forth by Creative Commons at https://creativecommons.org/licenses/ Wikipedia uses the “Attribution ShareAlike” license from Creative Commons and Creative Commons has two other samples that allow for commercial use and three that do not allow commercial use. I have no experience in how these licenses work in practice, but if credit is given to your Forum it may be a way to gain visibility. IP: Logged |

I have some experience with Creative Commons licenses, so if this is something that you are interested in, I'd be happy to discuss it with you. IP: Logged |

The purloiners must find my stuff boring -- only two images from my site. The pop-up is only irritating to me when doing a spell check. As Swarter mentioned, such is life, but in the long run it will make no difference at all and any class action suit will die in the water, though the attorneys will do well by it. IP: Logged |

Doc & ahwt, Thanks so much for the suggestion and offer. Right now I am a bit overwhelmed with too much to do to think about this. Hopefully I will find time to give this some consideration but it just doesn't look like it will be anytime soon. IP: Logged |
