All over the Silver Salon Forums members have lamented about the disappearing art/artifacts/craftsmanship of Early American Silver & Silversmithing history.

One man, David M. Rubenstein, has been giving away a portion of his fortune to preserve large scale parts of American history. See the 60 Minutes segment.

I suspect possible preservation/historical projects like,
  • the Silver Salon Forums,
  • WEV's American Silversmiths Genealogy Project,
  • Old Newbury Crafter's,
  • the many fantastic disappearing (to melt) silver collections
  • and more
are not large enough critical conservation architectural/maintenance types of projects to be of preservation interest to someone like David M. Rubenstein. But it would be nice .....

I think it is great that he is personally reviewing and making the decisions about what will get his support/help.

I hope our country sees more of this type philanthropy and wakes up about our country's disappearing history.
