I have a dozen or so Taxco 980 buttons stamped with a conjoined A N mark. Phyllis Goddard identifies this maker on page 114 of her Spratling Silver: A Field Guide book. I don't have the book; I've only seen the sample page on the Spratling website. The mark is used as an example of one confused with Spratling's. The mark is large enough to identify but I can't read the maker. Is it Artmeio Navarette, the goldsmith who worked with Spratling in the beginning? IP: Logged |

Antemio Navarrete used an conjoined An mark within a circle. It looks much like the AV mark used by Alfredo Villasana. I suspect you are correct that they are the work of Navarrete. Fred [This message has been edited by FredZ (edited 04-10-2004).] IP: Logged |
