Hello,

I was just visiting your website and have a question I hope you can answer. I have a bracelet that has the following mark on back...

926
EX100

It appears to be silver with 1 inch, triangular and oval turquoises. Can you tell me what the mark means?

Thank you for your time!

Sincerely,
Judie Hilton Porter

Hi Judy,

Did you manage to find any more info on this piece?

I have a brooch marked 927 and cannot find out if it is very new, or where it was made.

If you have found out and still visit the forum please let me know.

Thank you
dazmik

Judy and Dazmik,

Numbers such as those you posted usually indicate silver content in parts per thousand. 927 should be 927/1000 pure silver or 92.7% silver. However, and this is a big however, without more information as to where the piece was actually made, it is difficult to conclude anyting with confidence. Hallmarking laws are specific to individual countries. Ideally, you should take a digital picture of the mark, store it on a free server such photobuckets, and post it in your message.

This process sounds complicated, but as a tehcnologically challenged historian, I can tell you it is quite simple, once you get used to it. Follow the directions above.

If you can't post a picture, try scanning in a drawing or at least describe in detail all the marks on the items, including style of letters, shape of crest, order of marks, etc.

Good luck,
Tom
