I recently aquired a lovely enamelled brooch/pin, very art deco-like in design, the enamel a rich, dark red. The hallmark on the back reads: NORWAY STERLING 925S. The maker's mark is two X's lying on their sides (the maker's mark actually is right before 925S). I'm hoping to find a maker and establish a time of creation for this lovely piece. IP: Logged |

I can't be positive without seeing the mark, but I feel confident that what you are describing is the mark of post WWII designer Aksel Holmsen of Sandefjord, Norway, one of the leading proponents of Scandinavian jewelry design in the 1950s-60s. Hope this helps! [This message has been edited by blakstone (edited 07-10-2004).] [This message has been edited by blakstone (edited 07-10-2004).] IP: Logged |
