Hi, everyone. I have another Taxco markings question. the piece is a flower brooch, and the markings on the back include: Giles Taxco, Niguel (could it be Miguel?) 1064 under that name, the eagle shape with a 3, and at the top Rancho Ale__ - last 2 letters are unreadable. Any help would be appreciated until I can get a copy of the book you've talked about! Thanks! Wanda IP: Logged |

Hi Wanda. Unfortunately, I can't help on this one, other than to say the piece was made between c. 1946 and 1979, when the eagle assay mark was used. Probably the mark does say Miguel rather than Niguel. IP: Logged |

I suspect your brooch was made at Rancho Alegre. I will check to see if any of the craftsmen their had Miguel in their name. It would be nice to see an image of the brooch. Fred IP: Logged |
