Hello, I'm new on this site. I have been researching a lot of jewellery that belonged to my great aunt (born in the late 1800s). I've already come across a couple of lovely Charles Horner pendants and brooches, which was a lovely surprise! This bracelet/bangle fascinates me - I haven't a clue what you would call it and can find no hallmarks on it YET! I would say it's made of silver with ornate wire work throughout. If anyone can shed any light upon it I'd be really grateful. I'll probably have loads more questions for you all so I'll apologize in advance!! (I'm in the UK by the way!) Many thanks.

This is a lovely bracelet with well done wire work. The technique is an ancient one that is still used today. I have no idea of the age, nor of the origin. Does the central piece lift up? And if it does, is there anything under it, like a watch? Sorry not to have more illuminating thoughts on this. IP: Logged |

Dear Dale, Thanks for your reply. I couldn't agree more - the workmanship is wonderful isn't it! The "dome" itself is hollow but, like you, I wondered whether at one time it would have housed something! It'll be interesting to see if anyone else can identify the bracelet - in the meantime I'll keep searching on the internet! I've enclosed another photo. Take care,

Sometimes these are called 'Etruscan' style. Apparently because they are based on ancient examples. IP: Logged |
