As per forum rules I have held this back until after it sold. Here's a lovely little pin, with marks I haven't been able to identify. If anyone recognizes them I'll pass the information along to the buyer. I thought they might be Continental, but found no matches in my references.
The first mark is on the back of the pin body. As you can see it's a partial, on the edge of the 925 tag.
The catch is a standard commercial type rotating barrel catch. This second mark is really tiny, on the shaft of the pin itself.
Any thoughts? IP: Logged |

Hard for me to tell from the pictures, but the pin looks like it might have been made more recently than the Art Nouveau period of ca 1900-1910. IP: Logged |

That looks like an 825, not a 925 to me. IP: Logged |

Maybe a littlebit late for a reply, but I just figured out the makers mark: should be Dutch and yep it is: makers mark of Greif & Livni b.v./G.L. Nederland b.v., from Breukelen. The only snag though is that this type of mark is in use from 1980 till present. The 925 indicates that it isn't very old: dutch alloy for silver is 833 (90% of the time) and if you look close you have the "ZI" mark stamped next to it (in use from 1953). Although this is a mark put on pieces with no official Dutch marks (so it can be struck un older objects) in this case it is contemporary with the piece. Also the finishing is very modern, not quite 1900's. Hope this helps. IP: Logged |
