Is it possible that the good people from this board could help with the id of this Scandinavian brooch. It has been suggested it may be a David Anderson Guttorm Gagnes designer piece but I am not certain about this. Has anyone come across this design before. Your help is much appreciated Dusty.

If this brooch is from David Anderson it would be hallmarked by his logo. If I read the two letters as M.M than you have two possible names of the artists: M.MIKKELSEN, Viborg 1906 - 1937 MORGENS MADSEN, Copenhagen 1978 - ? Sazikov2000 IP: Logged |

Hello again I realised I should have specified the exact markings in my original post. You can probably make them out on the pic but just in case it is marked G.G 925S N.M Thank you Dusty IP: Logged |

Thank you for looking at this for me Sazikov.. Its actually N.M What confuses me here - why is there two sets of initials. There is a G.G and also a N.M. ?? Dusty IP: Logged |

G. G. stands for GULDBRAND GULDBRANDSEN, Vejle, 1893 - 1937 N. M stands for N. S. MUNCK, Copenhagen, 1893 - 1937 One person made the brooch, the other made the email and painting - but I do not know who did what. It is emailpainting over guilloche´ground(the small lines you see under the email). I would say it is from the 30ies according to the typ of needle. Sazikov2000 IP: Logged |

I've run across many Norwegian pieces with "NM" in various forms, combined with the name or mark of well-known makers (some unidentified makers, too). Have always understood it to stand for Norsk Maker on those pieces. Cheryl ;o) [This message has been edited by dragonflywink (edited 02-10-2005).] IP: Logged |
