Hello Again- This is my sterling Swordfish Stiletto "Swordy" I CANNOT get the mark very well it comes out blurry...So- it is a shield with backwards S w/line through it and 2179.. I was wondering how old it might be?.. Thanks very much!!

Oh, he's wonderful! Are you sure the "S" is backwards? Sounds like it might be Simons Brothers & Co. They used to produce, among other things, all sorts of fancy sewing accessories, believe are still making thimbles. Cheryl IP: Logged |

Hi , Thank you! yes it is, for certain a backwards S, I tried am Internet search and typing in reverse S in shield, and a few other "bright ideas" HA! But no luck yet..Thanks! IP: Logged |

This is a Simons Brothers (Philadelphia) sewing stiletto, circa 1905. It is a very famous design. Simons Bros. are still in business. In addition to making thimbles, they also make a variety of other items, including charms, pins, and specially commissioned jewelry items for organizations. For example, Simons produced a custom-designed silver charm bracelet that was given to players in the NCAA women's basketball Final Four, which was held earlier this year in Boston. IP: Logged |
