![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Hello, I am new at this board. I collect jewelry, and I found this pendant at an shop, and was wondering if anyone knows it's age and origin? It is a heart shape with gold and silver and a rose cut garnet, on the back is the mark .835 and what looks like a tree with the letter s. Any guesses? Here's the pic. IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Great photos - My first thought is that the 835 silver content may indicate a Northern European origin - perhaps Germany or Scandinavia. IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() It is very pretty. I hope you wear your old jewelry. The 835 stands for 83.5% silver content. This is a lesser silver content than sterling which is 92.5% silver, but it is still nice. The gold appears to be a gold wash on top of the silver which is called vermeil. When new, your pendant would likely have had the gold wash covering it all over making it look like solid gold, though selling at an affordable price for the average person. The amount of gold used in this process is too little to add any value, but it makes it look nice. If you wanted you could have it restored, but I kind of like it the way it is now. As for the maker, I don't recognize it mark, but hopefully someone will. Are there no other markings on it? IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() No, no other marks, and yes, I wear my old jewelry, in fact, I will wear nothing that is not at least 50 years old ![]() IP: Logged |
