One of my customers showed me a great crab pin that she bought about 30 years ago signed Bill Ilfeld and she asked me if I knew who he was. I told her no, but that I would try and find out. There's very little info on the web about him other than he is or was from New Mexico. Anybody know more about him and his work? IP: Logged |

Scott, It belongs to my client. I'll see if she'll lend it to me or let me take a photo. IP: Logged |

Here is something from the University of Arizona Library Manuscript Collection: Ilfeld family Genealogy of the Ilfeld family (1780-1965); compiled September 20, 1971 by Max Ilfeld. Article - "Charles Ilfeld's Story is History of New Mexico." Article - (Hawkins, Leona) "Subsequent Voyage: April 21, 1874-May 29, 1960." Oral history of Ludwig William Ilfeld.

Hello Richard! Don't know if this helps, but I think you might be on the right tract. I have found info re a William C. Ilfeld in New Mexico 1860-1944 . If you have the book Silver Jewelry Treasures by Nancy Schiffer check page 100. I have previously seen pieces on ebay that could very well be his. Jersey IP: Logged |

Finally, here are photos of the clip. It has a lapis inset and it measures about 3 1/4" by 2 3/4". IP: Logged |

My grandparents knew the Ilfeld family in Albuquerque in the 1910s and 20s. I'll ask my New Mexico cousins (in their 60s) if they have any clues. IP: Logged |
