Here is a pin attributed to Hermann Haussler. The same design, but in hatpin form, is pictured in the 3rd edition of Warman's. Fellow SMP member rat has also posted several lovely examples of Haussler's work in the Jugendstil & Secessionist Jewelry post. However, I know little about Haussler, and couldn't find information about him in any of my publications. Does anybody have more information about this interesting designer?

Hi Paul, This is an interesting topic. Haussler clearly designed for Fahrner, but there are other pieces that are clearly his designs made by others. The Fahrner pieces (marked with TF) I have seen have all been silver, never silver plated. Yet, the non-Fahrner pieces have all been silver plated, suggesting the same manufacturer. I've seen a number of unsigned brooches (like yours, and a few with a border as well) and hatpins over the years. Cathy Gordon (a collector) has several Haussler designed items in her online photo albums (the Fahrner one) - some TF and some unsigned. I have not been able to find out much about Haussler himself other than what is in the Fahrner book. - rat IP: Logged |
