My knowledge of Native American silver work is mighty slim. A friend recently purchased the necklace below. It is 24" in length; the pendent drum is 2" tall and 3/4" in diameter. The stones appear much brighter in my pics than they are; all three are distinctly different in colour, which is not at all regular in each, and two include very fine (with a loupe) inclusions of silver veining. The mark is obscured by the loop ring on the top of the drum, but I found a picture of another piece with a clear mark -- a conjoined JT. I have been told that there is a well regarded maker named Jack Tom, but I checked with his gallery agent and was told he had not used this drum form. Has anyone seen similar pieces? Or have a maker/date to suggest? IP: Logged |

Unusual piece. Found 2 similar marks in my reference, both conjoined JT, although neither in a box. Jessie Thompson, Navajo (no dates) Johnson Todacheeny, Navajo, began working in 1967 and was a smith for White Hogan shop. This does not really look like a White Hogan piece to me, so the first one seems a more likely contender. IP: Logged |

Hello Wev! Is it at all possible that it is not a Native american piece but perhaps from another country such as South America or Mexico? Jersey IP: Logged |

No. I have had confirmation from another source that the maker is in all likelihood Johnson Todacheeny, who did work in this form outside the White Hogan shop. IP: Logged |
