In 1902 what was the reason for the compartment in the ring and its popularity? Headache power? Mourning hair locket? Photo? Loose gems? Or something more James Bond-ish?

How odd . . . back when I was selling antique jewelry I once had this exact ring in 14 Kt. Wish I had known about this ad at the time. Given the mildly erotic nature of the design, I assumed it to be for a lock of hair, but as a romantic token, not mourning. IP: Logged |
