Two pieces by studio jeweler George Brooks, one made in 1953 when he was in Montreal, the other in 1967 after he had moved to Santa Barbara, CA. Here's 1953, with pearls and a yellow diamond

That was dumb of me. I don't think I photographed the marks, but I did record them. He signed his pieces: brooks--all in lower case, incuse (i.e. stamped into the metal rather than raised letters in a punch). IP: Logged |

I just visited George Brooks, and his wife Jean, in Santa Barbara. He still has an active website, although he has been retired since 1991. An alternate mark is Brooks, with a capital B. He did a lot of gold jewelry, which he considers commercial--but his silver pieces are his art. IP: Logged |
