One of the most accomplished early 20th century studio jewelers was Chicago's James Winn. Here's a typical gold and coral necklace of his in the Art Nouveau / Jugendstil style: The pendant is composed of two separate connected plaques that can move along with the wearer, as can the internal drop at the bottom. Winn pieces are fairly rare. Winn ads are ever rarer. Here's one from 1917 in which Winn suggests that buyers bring in their own stones so "You can have something as beautiful designed for YOUR jewels."

Thank you for sharing this exquisite piece. It is so seldom that one can view an item made by Winn. I suspect most of what he made is still with the family of the original owners. Who would want to sell such a piece? Fred IP: Logged |
