We're fortunate to have a large library of early 20th century reference material that contains photos of work done by great but little-known jewelers. We'll scan some of these and post them from time to time. Here's the first one -- a pair of necklaces from Handicraft Magazine Vol. 4 (1911) done by Eva M. Macomber:
The usual Google search shows that she was part of the Hingham, Mass. Society of Arts and Crafts, and did jewelry as well as enamel work. She died in 1927. A very nice enameled copper box of hers was sold at Rago's in 2005: IP: Logged |

Two of Eva Macomber's works were in the 1997 "Affirmation and Rediscovery" show and are pictured in the A&R catalog. One is a lidded copper bowl with apricot enamel interior and a floral yellow/green/blue enamel top. The other is a lidded copper bowl with a blue/green enamel geometric design. The catalog biography notes that she was "elected a Craftsman" at the SOACB in 1905 and "promoted to Mastership" in 1916. It adds that she "lived in Hingham and Montague, Massachusetts" and "participated in the Third Annual Exhibition of the National Society of Craftsmen in 1909." She "became a member of the Copley Society in Boston in 1895 and showed at the 1907 Society exhibition." (All references from the Affirmation and Rediscovery catalog.) IP: Logged |

If it's not already in the biographical information about this artist, I can add that she was born Eva M Edmands on 20 September 1851 in Oxford, Massachusetts. IP: Logged |
