Here is an interesting pair of what I think are earrings. There are no findings; one shows a mild abrasion on the top edge of the upper circular part, possible evidence of a wire having been (inexplicably) removed, but the other shows no corresponding abrasion. Perhaps they are pendants or the maker just didn't finish them.

In any event, they are interesting circa 1980s pieces. They are sterling and clear acrylic resin containing different designs on each side. The resin encases different materials such as ink, gold foil, paper shards, etc.

Each is signed "TM" (?) in engraved script and one is marked 925. The style of work seems unusual enough that it might be idiosyncratic of one designer. I am hoping somebody might recognize the mark or style of work. Any ideas?

I am also interested in having them made (back?) into earrings. Can any of our silversmiths tell me if it is possible to have a simple wire soldered onto the top edge without damaging or melting the resin? Or suggest an alternate method that looks professional, and may somehow take advantage of the earrings having distinctly different designs on the front & back? I feel like they were intended to be reversible pieces of jewelry.

Have seen large door-knocker style earrings with interchangeable "knockers" that simply hang from the actual clip-back (pierced and non-pierced) earrings.....perhaps these originally had something similar.

It would be easy and safe to laser weld a jump ring to attach the earring. Also a good old school jeweler could do the same with a small bench torch.
