[13-0676] The Tiffany cylindrical coffeepot thread raised the topic of mokume gane, and rather than divert that thread I thought I'd start a new one where people can post examples. Over a decade ago at a crafts fair in Lexington, KY, I had the good fortune to meet a Georgia-based jeweler named Obayana Ajanaku who works in mokume gani (another spelling), and bought a pair of his earrings for my wife.
He likes to work in mixed metals, as evidenced here, including mokume panels, here in silver and copper. You can find other examples of his work shown online. He's primarily self-taught, and has won a number of awards. Anyone else have examples of mokume gane they'd like to share? PS: sorry about the photo quality, I'm about to leave town for a week and didn't have much time to fiddle with lighting.... IP: Logged |
