Hi, I have a vintage or Victorian compact with a small makers mark on it with the letters AK, next to that is a small oblong shape stamped into it. On the other side of the opening there is another mark that appears to have two 00 on it or the number 8. Inside the compact where the powder would go the number 18 is stamped in it. I have no idea what these marks are and have been unable to find anything out about them. PLEASE HELP ME! IP: Logged |

Hi Sherry, When you say Victorian,do you mean UK or the period 1837-1900? A quick look through my reference books does not show "AK" as a maker...but I am v much a novice here and would defer to anyone wiht greater knowledge. Any chancy you could send a pic? Rgds, TBC IP: Logged |
