[26-1571] Hello, I read the guidelines I am supposed to say why I want to know about this piece. Okay here goes: I want to know why because I am a jewellery collector (not a seller) and I could not find anything about this maker either on the web, or when I searched here. Any help would be most appreciated. Cheers, IP: Logged |

Hello babsy! Welcome to the forums. We here at the Forums like to know who we are speaking with and enjoy hearing about their interests, and learning as well about new designers etc. We also like to help whenever possible. I can only give this a guess but the bracelet may be that of Frey Wille, a manufacturer of enamel jewelry, in Vienna, Austria. It was begun by an artist Michaela Frey in 1951 and was known as Erste Wiener Emailmanufaktur. Are there any other markings inside of the bracelet? Hope this helps. Enjoy the day. IP: Logged |

I think it is a very dramatic bangle that would look sharp with all kinds of clothing styles of today. It has that 1950's look to it so the timeframe mentioned by Jersey sounds right. Since you did not mention any other markings I assume it is silverplated. Is the enamel essentially fired stencilled paint with the design being areas where the paint was not applied, or is the enamelling the more elaborate melted enamel in areas that have been hollowed out a bit below the level of the design, or is the design a silver overlay on top of a solid black enamelled bangle? This company is still around in Vienna making enameled bracelets and other jewelry and you can find their website by searching for the phrase 'Frey Wille'. If you contact them they may be able to give you some specific information on this bangle. [This message has been edited by Kimo (edited 02-04-2008).] IP: Logged |
