This is in answer to a long-ago question posed by Jersey in the Jewelry Forum (Helen Woodhull). No answers were posted, so for what it's worth:

Helen Woodhull signed her jewelry HW, WOODHULL and H WOODHULL, usually accompanied by a copyright mark and often a year.
Hope this helps!

Hello!

I knew a little bird would tell me! Thank you blackbird, & welcome to the forum.

Now if I can only remember why I asked the question.

I'm sure it'll come to you eventually, Jersey!

I used to sell her jewelry, have a few of her pieces, and knew her personally, so if you ever have more questions, feel free!

I've learned so much from this forum, I am happy to reciprocate. Cheers!

Hi Blackbird!

It may have been her connection with Jensen that prompted the query. What do you know about that?

Did she make many pieces, or was she the designer & if so who actually was the silversmith?

I'm still rather confused as to the difference between designer & maker, if you follow my train of thought........(I get confused, very easy for me, with so many makers that don't make their own things).

Can you show us your pieces, I for one would love to see them.

Sorry to hear she had passed away.

Jersey, I'll try to post some pictures today. (I'm new to this, so please bear with me, Mr. Moderator!)

Helen pretty much designed and someone else actually made the pieces. She designed for Jensen (and other retailers, I think) during the 1970s; it would be interesting to know who at Jensen made her stuff. I have an old Jensen ad (undated) that features an openwork gold and silver pendant of two birds and reads, "The Lovebirds by Helen Woodhull," with the Jensen logo at the bottom. Sometime in the 1980s she started her own company, and started working with the jeweler who (I think) still makes her pieces today.

You can get the whole story and see her pieces on her website: www.woodhulljewelry.com.

You can see this is a favorite topic of mine!
Cheers!

Here are a couple more Helen Woodhull pictures.

Four rings, two of 18kt gold and two of sterling silver. The gold are set with jade and a carved carnelian:

Last is a one-of-a-kind piece -- a pendant of 18kt gold and pre-Columbian jade:

I will also be posting today some vintage silver jewelry in my collection that I need help identifying. Many thanks for your interest in my HW, Jersey!

Hi again Blackbird!

Great postings of the pictures, I'm still working on the how to do it.

Great looking pieces! The info re the lovebirds may have been what I was looking for.

Looking forward to seeing the ones you need help with. I'm sure someone will be able to assist you.
