Spring is here and it's a great time to get into high gear when it comes to antique shows. Here are the May 2002 shows that I know of. Please, readers, add to the list. May 3-5 May 4-5 May 5 May 5 May 10-12 May 11 May 11-19 May 17-19 May 18-19 May 18-19 May 24-26 May 27 IP: Logged |

Last weekend we drove out of town for a party and along the way, we passed the White Plains Antique show in White Plains, New York. We had some time, so we decided to check it out. We had been to another Westchester antiques show several years back that was pretty good, so we figured what the heck. Wow, what a disappointment! Not only did they charge us $4 to park and $5 each to get in, but this was a total retail show. Gee, the promoters ought to warn us about such things. When we saw a wax seal with not a single maker's or standard mark on it priced at $750, we knew we had come to the wrong place. Each month I try to provide a list of shows around the country that we either know or look interesting. I can strongly advise you against the White Plains antique show as a buyer. I would say it is probably a good show for the dealers, but I must tell you there was no one at this show. Attendance was meager. There was an awful lot of furniture and the best I can tell you is that they did have a Nathan's hot dog stand if you like that kind of thing. IP: Logged |
