The National Museum of Scotland is hosting the largest display of Scottish silver ever seen. More than 350 pieces of silver, spanning 7 centuries will be on display. The exhibit opens on January 27th and runs through to April 27th.

The catalogue is pretty expensive when you have to pay US$, at Ł43 with the shipping, but it sounds interesting. I decided to chance it. Thanks for the notice! IP: Logged |

This catalogue is quite a nice volume, although pricy for those of us who have to order from the US. I wish I had ordered along with it the little book on Silver of the Stars, also from the museum. That project is teased in the Silver Made in Scotland volume, and it looks like it would be very interesting. At least there's a decent online version: Silver of the Stars. I think of particular resonance to previous discussions here would be the absinthe goblet and spoon made for Alexander McQueen, but all of the pieces are interesting. And it's certainly a neat way to promote contemporary silversmithing. IP: Logged |
