July 4 – September 21, 2008 www.winterthur.org This exhibit completed its premiere run at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York this spring and will now spend the summer at Winterthur Museum in Delaware. On display are more than 100 examples of the works of Thomas Fletcher and Sidney Gardiner, established silversmiths from Boston and Philadelphia during the 1800’s. During their careers, they produced silver of supreme quality and elegance including military and historical pieces as well as personal items. The exhibition will include a selection of swords, medals, commemorative works, tea sets, pitchers, dinner services, a candelabrum, vases, and flatware in silver and gold.
