Elegant Armor: The Art of Jewelry exhibition opened on September 27, 2008 at the new site of the Museum of Arts & Design at 2 Columbus Circle in New York City. The exhibition presents contemporary art jewelry from the museum's permanent collection. The pieces are wonderfully displayed including a series of pull out drawers each of which holds a tantalizing surprise. In conjunction with the exhibition, MAD's jewelry curator, Ursula Ilse-Neuman, will host a daylong investigation into the history of contemporary jewelry design on Saturday November 22, 2008. This event is free and will include participation by Jamie Bennett of SUNY New Paltz, Iris Eichenberg of Cranbrook Academy and Stanley Lechtzin of the Tyler School of Art.
