The 34th Selma, Alabama Pilgrimage is March 20-22 and has always been an interesting pilgrimage. James Cormany the author of “Alabama Silversmiths – Little Known Craftsmen From a Long Forgotten Era” reports that Joseph Cregan, W. H. Fellows, S. F. Hobbs, E.H. Hobbs, Nathaniel Monroe, G.L. Poor, J. R. Poor were all silversmiths residing in Selma, Alabama. Otto Stoelker was listed in Mr. Company’s book as a jeweler while living in Selma. Silver with marks of some of the silversmiths above is on display in the local museum. Selma is also the home of Katherine Tucker Windham; the best story teller that I have ever heard. She is heard on NPR and at 90 still is very active on the storytelling circuit. IP: Logged |
