I was at Brimfield today and there was some lovely silver to see. I just got a new phone, so haven't figured out how to take and post photos from it; wish I had because I saw the largest piece of plated silver I had ever seen. It was an entire serving trolley that was silverplated on the outside and had a dome cover. Found a few treats, but prices were strong at many of the silver dealers I visited with; was very pleased to find a great selection of Irish silver, which was unexpected (unfortunately, not within my price range). Every dealer I spoke to was having a strong first day, so that was good news. IP: Logged |

Doc, it was a beautiful morning - a little cold to start. I came to deliver repairs to 2 dealers and see if I could pick up a few coin teaspoons. Given the temperature I was surprised that there was a good crowd by the time I left at 10:30. Most of the dealers I saw with silver were 1 of 2 types, either the whole both exclusively silver and no bargains but usually fair prices or the general dealer and bargains to be found. I bought from both, 4 spoons and a pair of 3-armed filled candelabra tops in ratty shape that I am happy to scrap for gas money! Aside from my modest buys it was a lot of fun, there is everything there and I wished that I could have stayed. IP: Logged |
