It's getting cold here in the Northeast so it's time to start thinking about the Florida winter antique shows. Thurs Feb 2, 2017-Sunday Feb 5 Friday Feb 3 - Sunday Feb 5 Friday Feb 3 - Sunday Feb 5 Friday Feb 10 - Monday Feb 13 IP: Logged |

We attended the Miami Antiques + Art + Design Show at the Miami Airport Convention Center this past Friday and Saturday. It was really a nice show. The show has been around for many years and has gone through ups and downs but it is definitely on the upswing due to the location change for the Miami Beach Show and the timing of the shows. If all goes well, next year's show will expand to a second floor. Kudos to the promoter for a job well done. IP: Logged |

Yesterday we drove to the Miami Antique Show out at the Miami Fairgrounds. It is really out there in the middle of nowhere. That being said, the attendance was good. Word has it that the abundant free parking brought old customers who had forgone the Miami Beach Show for several years, back to the show. Personally, I find it hard to believe that free parking could make such a difference, but apparently it did. The show was worthwhile. Lots of dealers and lots to see and consider. A little too much bling for our taste, but we were able to race through those rows. It was a hard show to do though. There were 3 separate buildings and one tent and it was hard to keep track of where you were. Felt like we were walking in circles at times. NO good landmarks to position yourself. Heaven help you if you wanted to go back and revisit a previously seen dealer. Logistically very challenging. Guess that was good for the dealers since customers tended to buy things on the spot rather than wonder off to consider. IP: Logged |

Hi June, nice to see you there! It was much better than I thought it would be... But on returning the second day (Saturday) it was very slow, although there was a steady flow of folks it was not crowded. Dealers seemed ready to give a best price but then that seems to be happening everywhere. IP: Logged |
